Charlie Smith, BVI Kite Jam Founder & Partner,played a key role in bringing Kite Jam to life. He in fact was kite boarding with Sir Richard Branson in South Africa when the idea for BVI Kite Jam was conceived. Along with Scotty, he is now spearheading logistics for Kite Jam 2010 competitions and events in and around the BVI.
 
In addition to being Head of Watersports at Necker Island since 2005, Charlie has a breadth of watersport experience leading up to BVI Kite Jam. Born in the U.K. and raised in the Mediterranean, Charlie worked as a watersports instructor in Australia until 2001, then managed various watersports centre’s for Sunsail Clubs in Turkey and Antigua until 2004. He is also certified as an International Kiteboardng Organization (IKO) Instructor, RYA Windsurf and Senior Sailing Instructor, Wakeboarding, Waterski and PADI Instructor.
 

Charlie has been kite boarding since the early part of the decade and developed his passion for the sport upon arriving in BVI. He contributes this to the perfect conditions offered including endless flat crystalline waters with the ideal balance of waves. He is proud to be a part of the first ever BVI Kite Jam and wants to share the beauty and excitement of the sport with other kite boarding pros and beginners alike.
